Kristen Anderson, Partner

Kristen Anderson is a partner of The Law Firm for Non-Profits. Her passion for working with nonprofit organizations began at a young age when she eagerly awaited becoming old enough to volunteer at the local animal shelter. Ever since then, she has jumped on any opportunity to volunteer with nonprofit organizations to help in any way she can. Kristen was drawn to The Law Firm for Non-Profits so that she could make assisting nonprofit organizations her life’s work.

Kristen has a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Law and Society from the University of California, San Diego. She attended University of San Diego School of Law where she earned both a J.D. and an LL.M in Taxation Law. Kristen is a member of the State Bar of California and a Certified Legal Specialist in taxation law. Kristen has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for the past two years.

During and after law school, Kristen worked with the University of San Diego’s Legal Clinics and the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program to provide pro bono legal services to clients in need, earning a Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding contributions of legal services and recognition by the State Bar of California for voluntary provision of legal services to the disadvantaged, improving the law and the legal system, and increasing access to justice. Kristen has also worked as an associate attorney at a boutique tax controversy law firm in San Diego and founded her own tax law firm.

Kristen enjoys working with nonprofit organizations on complex tax matters as well as advising nonprofit boards with regard to ongoing compliance with both federal and state laws.
